With a relaxed and quintessentially Australian style, interior and prop stylist Jason Grant has translated his sunny Bondi attitude to a global market. Jason has been taking a clear, personal point of view and completing that vision for over 10 years - in that time his work has appeared in numerous Australian and International magazines, he has published two books (with a third to be released very soon) and he has built his own lifestyle brand, MJG by Mr Jason Grant.

Tell us a little about your current work - what do you do, and what inspires you to do it?

I'm a stylist, author, and designer along with being the creative director of my brand MJG by Mr. Jason Grant. I'm lucky to have evolved from a stylist to a brand - it's my passion.

How does your work enrich your life or the lives of others?

The work that I create is all about good vibes and feel good style. I love to encourage others to be inspired by what I do and to find their own style and point of view.

Can you share a recent project you’ve worked on that you’re most proud of?

I have just completed my third book with Hardie Grant due for release this September. I'm also a proud ambassador for Wayside Chapel - a cause close to my heart.

What was the pivot point that set you on your current path?

I guess there are plenty and it's good to be open to opportunities when they present themselves. One very pivotal point was meeting Glen Proebstel and him convincing Karen McCartney, then editor of Inside out Magazine, to give me a chance, styling for the magazine. Later, taking the leap and moving from Melbourne to Sydney really shifted things into overdrive.

What advice would you give to others to identify and embrace those moments of action?

Be brave! Work hard, be nice to everyone and do all it takes to make your dreams into reality.

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone who’s going through their own transformation?

Encourage your imagination and dream big!

Who or what has been your biggest inspiration in shaping your career?

I love to learn every day - it's a constant journey. Over the years, I have had a number of mentors or people that have encouraged and inspired me. A lot of the skills I've learnt as a stylist come from working with amazing photographers.

Where in the world would you describe as the place that speaks to you - your soul place?

There are three places that I love: Bondi, Byron Bay and LA. They are my happy places - the people, the environment and the general vibe make me happy.

If you could do anything, what in the world would you want to do next?

I'm definitely keen to explore a slightly slower paced, less urban lifestyle.
